Chaparral sage is a medium-sized plant with very fragrant foliage. Round balls of deep purple blooms stack up the bloom stems from spring through early fall. It is very durable in well-draining soil as they don't like soggy roots. Prune off the blooms spikes as they flowers fade to promote new growth. They look their best when planted with some protection from the hottest sun in the summer.
