Blue Hibiscus (Alyogyne huegelli)
Commonly mistaken for a true Hibiscus, these hot weather blooming shrubs are evergreen and provide beautiful accent color in desert and semi-tropical yards.
Plant in native soil, breaking up the bottom of the hole to provide adequate drainage. Blue Hibiscus are intolerant of wet, heavy soils. Water deeply to encourage deep roots and promote heavier flowering. After they have established allow the soil to dry slightly between regular irrigation. Prune after bloom cycle to keep them full and to promote faster bloom cycles.
