Yellow Bells, also known by the common names Yellow Trumpet Flower or Yellow Elder, is native from Arizona to Texas and Mexico and combines its lush green/gray green foliage with showy, large clusters of trumpet-shaped lemon-yellow flowers that will have your landscape ablaze in bright colors from spring to fall. The botanical name is Tecoma stans v. angustata, and this medium to large evergreen shrub will add a tropical feel to any landscape! Also, if you enjoy the sight of hummingbirds and butterflies cavorting in your yard, you will be happy to know that these Tecoma stans attract them in droves! These are perfect for those that desire a colorful, low-maintenance shrub for their landscape. We like to use them as a privacy hedge/screen, accent, in rock gardens, and mass planting them is sure to create a dazzling display of color!

Drought tolerant once established, Yellow Bells can handle the heat and require little to moderate water. These are fast growing plants that prefer to grow in a spot with partial shade to full sun exposure. Tecoma stans v. angustata tolerate the reflected heat of asphalt and concrete and are versatile enough to also work well in lush courtyards. Feel free to prune them to rejuvenate it with fresh growth.

A landscape makeover is one of the best ways to increase property value. Everyone loves a beautiful yard, and Yellow Bells is a welcome addition to any area. We recommend taking advantage of our free home and business design consultations for additional guidance on how to use these shrubs. We grow them right here in our local climate, and we are the growers that can assure their quality!

Every time a plant is watered, the soil should be thoroughly saturated to a depth of at least 2 to 3 feet and at least as wide as a tree well. Very slow and deep watering is always recommended. During periods of extreme heat, we advise at least 1 additional time per week of watering for all varieties. For periods of heavy rain (1/2” or more) adjust accordingly by possibly skipping a watering session for that time.
