Blue Hibiscus is not actually a member of the Hibiscus family, though it is just as beautiful. Commonly called Lilac Hibiscus, it is a lovely hot weather-blooming shrub that adds gorgeous accent color to any landscape. Alyogyne huegelii (botanical name) is native to Western Australia and found extending along its entire coastline. Here in the United States, we like to plant them as the perfect evergreen shrub for use in entryways, as a hedge, or borders. When in bloom, it can display breathtaking, large blue-purple flowers that captivate the senses and add curb appeal!
Blue Hibiscus plants thrive in a location with plenty of full sun exposure. Since they love the sun so much, we like to plant them in a sunny garden.
At Moon Valley Nurseries, we take pride in growing our Blue Hibiscus shrubs from our private stock of premium quality specimens. No one else does what we do. We are unique growers. "These are a very unique looking plant and what's funny is they are not even a real Hibiscus but just called that. They give a different look than other plants in our landscape and they have thrived around our pool in the full sun. "
