Soft, weeping rush like branches rise up from the ground with very tiny bright green leaves and cascade towards the ground with bright coral trumpet-shaped flowers. Also known as Firecracker Plant, this colorful shrub grows well in sun to mostly shade.
It has proven to be very tolerant of desert, alkaline soils and recovers quickly from even the coldest of winters.
Prune in late winter before new growth emerges for the softest, freshest appearance all through the year.
Every time a plant is watered, the soil should be thoroughly saturated to a depth of at least 2 to 3 feet and at least as wide as a tree well. Very slow and deep watering is always recommended. During periods of extreme heat, we advise at least 1 additional time per week of watering for all varieties. For periods of heavy rain (1/2” or more) adjust accordingly by possibly skipping a watering session for that time.
Rachael at Moon Valley helped me pick these out for our front yard and I couldn't be happier. She was able to pair these firecracker plants with some other hedges and trees to make a complete look.
